Corporate Social Responsability

Taller Technologies is engaged with Social Responsibilities by supporting and collaborating with FuDePAN foundation.

We believe this is the time for our social commitment to become a key element of our company’s strategy. By promoting and collaborating with FuDePAN, Taller Technologies wants to encourage engineers to participate in researching projects with the spirit of resolving problems that will have a big impact in our society.

Thanks to all (who volunteered) over the last 5 years, FuDePAN has made several researching projects that have 3 key pillars: Virology, Protein Structure and High Performance Computing.

In conjunction with the National University of Córdoba (UNC), FuDePan, an NGO/NPO involved in R&D in bioinformatics, is applying for a provincial grant named FONBIO (FONdo BIOtecnológico) in order to get the necessary funds for the development of an exciting software project that aims at producing an improvement in the Sabin polio vaccine in the computing environment.

The Sabin vaccine (OPV) is successfully utilized in developing countries inside Africa, South Asia and Central America as well as in South America as it is a cheaper alternative to the Salk vaccine.

In about 1 out of 800.000 cases, the problem with the Sabin vaccine is that the lessened vaccine virus turns into an aggressive virus when it is given to patients, causing Poliomyelitis (VAPP). FuDePAN developed the initial software version called as “vac-o” from an undergraduate thesis by one student at the FAMAF (UNC). This software is able to analytically produce an improvement for the vaccine virus, such as the reduction of chances that the vaccine causes VAPP.

This software requires a boost in its development in order to reach the objective through its rewriting with parallel computing technologies, Testing (tasks related to Quality control) and the incorporation of a new functionality related to biology (the reconsideration of the recombination phenomenon).
