Turnkey Family Banking as a Distribution Platform
Building the mobile SDK that lets financial institutions launch co-branded family banking faster
The Client · The leading North American family-fintech platform

Overview
A leading North American family-fintech platform engaged Taller to build the mobile SDK that powered its B2B2C banking platform, along with its credit-card features. Taller organized into two pods, Credit and Partner Enablement, embedded from 2022 through 2026.
The Problem
The B2B2C banking platform was the client’s co-branded, ready-to-deploy product for institutions, giving partner banks and credit unions a way to offer family banking under their own brand without building it themselves. For those partners to launch quickly, the piece of software where their systems connected to the platform had to do a lot of quiet work: it had to absorb the differences between one partner and the next across sign-up flows, the systems that issued payment cards, identity-verification checks (known as KYC, or "Know Your Customer," the regulatory process banks use to confirm who a customer is), and reporting requirements, all while staying simple to deploy. The tool that carried this load was a customizable SDK (software development kit, a prebuilt bundle of code a partner drops into their own app instead of writing the integration from scratch). Without it, every partner launch became a bespoke integration project, and that did not scale. The client engaged Taller to build that SDK, along with the platform’s credit-card features, so new partners could be onboarded quickly and consistently rather than one custom project at a time.
The Solution
Taller delivered a mobile team that built the platform’s credit-card features and the customizable SDK for partner apps. The team was organized into two pods, Credit and Partner Enablement, working in Swift and Kotlin (the primary programming languages for iOS and Android apps) with CI/CD (continuous integration and delivery, an automated pipeline that tests and ships code changes safely and frequently), and with engineering managers, QA, and technical leads embedded throughout. The SDK was what let a partner’s app tap into the platform’s household graph (the map of how family members relate to one another and who is allowed to spend what) without rebuilding any of that logic itself. Across the broader engagement, sustained iOS Tech Lead, Android Tech Lead, and Mobile Engineering Manager roles kept the pod structure intact.
The Impact
Taller delivered in full, standing up a sixty-person team (plus engineering managers, QA, and technical leads) in under ninety days, allowing the client to achieve:
reduction in time from ticket creation to closure
decrease in defect density (the rate of bugs found in delivered work)
increase in knowledge transfer across the team
